Mindsets are powerful and deeply held beliefs, but ultimately, they are just that, beliefs, that can be altered. To demonstrate this point, from one perspective, failure may be perceived as a monumental personal rejection. In this scenario, an event like losing your job, not only has financial implications and a sense of loss perhaps for something that you may have enjoyed doing, but it also has the psychological impact of damaging your self-esteem, and confirming your internal perception that 'you were not good enough'. From another perspective, however, this same perceived 'failure' can be viewed as an opportunity to try something new, develop, grow and fulfil your potential.
To begin the process of change from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset is not easy, nor is it easy to maintain this adjustment without a great deal of effort and commitment. It is, however, one of the most powerful and liberating things that you will ever do.
