SLEEP

Are you getting enough sleep?

We've all missed the odd nights sleep, right?  In fact, when life gets busy this is the first thing that we sacrifice. This can be calamitous, however, as sleep should be considered one of the foundations of good health, a time set aside for muscular repair, the cleansing of brain toxins, stabilisation of emotions, and the maintenance of our internal circadian rhythm. The recommended amount of sleep required for each age group is as follows:

  • 1-2 years old: 11-14 hours (including naps)
  • 3-5 years old: 10-13 hours (including naps)
  • 6-13 years old: 9-11 hours
  • 14-17 years old: 8-10 hours
  • Adults: 7-9 hours
  • Older Adults: 7-8 hours

Sacrificing sleep on a regular basis, though, can have far reaching effects on our overall wellbeing. In fact, depriving yourself of good quality sleep, can trigger a multitude of unwelcome negative health effects that I am sure we have all experienced at one time or another.

Trained in advanced sleep management strategies, we are here to help with proven clinical sleep techniques to aid in achieving a good nights sleep, offering  effective individual centred treatment using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for insomnia (CBTi).
